Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the characterization of A.J. Fikry as the main character of the Novel “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry” by Gabrielle Zevin. This research used qualitative method. Qualitative method used the data from words in the Novel. The technique of collecting data of this research was the descriptive method based on the data used of this research consisting of all the expressions, utterances, or dialogs describing the main character A.J. Fikry. The researcher used theory from Sayuti (1996) about Dramatic Method or Indirect Merhod to analyze the characterization of the main character in the novel. The result of this research showed that the researcher found six method of characterization. There are (1) Physical Description (2) Portrayal Of Thought Stream Or Conscious Thought (3) Reaction To Event (4) Direct Author Analysis (5) Discussion Of Environtment (6) Reaction Of Other Character.
