Abstract

The Lyrics of Don’t Fight the Feeling Song sung by EXO Boy Group have different kinds of languages, so the writer interested to search the code mixing found in lyrics of this song. The objectives of this study were to describe the types of code mixing that were used in the Lyrics of Don’t Fight the Feeling Song by Exo Boy Group; and to describe the reasons of code mixing were used in the Lyrics of Don’t Fight the Feeling Song by Exo Boy Group. Qualitative method was used in this study. To collect the data, the researcher used herself as the first instrument, and the second instrument was the text of the Lyrics of the song which were download from internet. The data collections were analyzed thru identification, classification, data display, and drawing conclusion. The findings were three kinds of the Code mixing: insertion 20%, alteration 50%, and congruent lexicalization 30%, then the seven reasons suited to the code-mixing kinds were: (1) Talking About Particular Topic 30%, (2) Quoting Somebody Else 10%, (3) Being Emphatic About Something 0%, (4) Interjection (Inserting Sentence Fillers or Sentence Connector) 20%, (5) Repetition Used for Clarification 10%, (6) Expression Group Identity or Solidarity 10% and, (7) Clarifying the Speech Content for the Interlocutor 20%.
