Abstract

This thesis was aimed to know the appropriateness of English materials with English for specific purpose syllabus of the fifth semester. The researcher used quantitative method. The object of the study is English for specific purpose syllabus and English material if fifth students at Nutrition Academy of Surabaya. To collect the data, the researcher used instrument such as English for specific purpose syllabus of the fifth semester, English material that used by lecturer and student and after researchers get data from syllabus and English material , then checklist in the comparison column. The findings of this study showed after comparing between the English for Specific Purpose syllabus and English material a percentage of comparison is 71,5% is obtained includes ‘Good’ which means that most of the syllabus has been applied to the English material. The conclusion based on the findings of this study was the English material appropiate with English for specific purpose (ESP) syllabus of the fifth semester at Nutrition Academy of Surabaya. English material can be added according to the ESP syllabus.
